Orthopedic surgery denotes the correction of problems relating to the bones and the tissues that support them. In our practice we repair damaged cruciate ligaments and associated structures in the canine knee. As well, we perform a surgery to correct slipping kneecaps (luxating patellas) in small breeds. The veterinarian will explain the surgery in detail as well as advising you of possible complications. A physiotherapy program will be designed for each patient in order that they return to full weight bearing as soon as possible. If your pet has a fracture we will complete the X-rays and the initial stabilization necessary, then refer your animal to a facility specializing in fracture repair in our area. Often we can do the followup radiographs and procedures at our clinic. We work in close cooperation with the referral surgeon to ensure the best followup and results in each case.
